No sign-up, no email

Your phone makes a private Palate code. That code is your account. We store only a scrambled form of it, so we can't read it back.

You can add your phone number and a PIN to sign in on any phone. The number is stored only in scrambled form, so we can't read it, never show it to anyone, and never text or call you. The PIN is stored scrambled too.

What we keep

• Meals you log: restaurant, city, date, dishes, ratings, tags and private notes.
• Your basics (likes, dislikes, food rules) and your taste summary.
• Recipes, recipe photos, likes, groups you join, and your shopping list.
• Your display name, if you set one, and your phone number and PIN in scrambled form, if you add them.
• Reports and messages you send us.

Who can see what

• Only you: your meals, ratings, private notes, basics, shopping list, and "Only me" recipes.
• Your group: recipes you post to that group.
• Everyone: public recipes, your profile (name, public recipes, meals you mark "Show on my profile"), and tips you write for other diners.

Private notes never appear on your profile.

Photos of receipts and menus

When you snap a receipt or menu, the photo goes to Cloudflare's AI service to read the text. We don't save those photos. Recipe photos you add are saved so others can see them, following the recipe's privacy setting.

Services we use

• Cloudflare (USA) runs the website, the database and the AI that reads photos.
• Google Fonts supplies the lettering. Google sees that a font was loaded.

No ad networks, no analytics trackers, no data sales.

Kids

Palate is for ages 13 and up. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child is using Palate, tell us through Contact Palate and we'll delete it.

Delete everything

In the app: My taste → Safety and account → Delete my account. It removes your meals, recipes, photos, tips, likes and group memberships right away.
